Annual conference of Consortium Indonesian Manning Agent (CIMA)

PT Equinox Bahari Utama was participating in the annual conference of the Consortium Indonesian Manning Agent (CIMA) where almost all the members were also being attended. The main focus for this year is to guide the new regulation related to the protection for the Seafarers as per the Government regulation number 18 year of 2017.

The virtual conference was also discussing about the 2018 amendments of the MLC 2006, where a seafarer is held captive on or off the ship as a result of acts of piracy or armed robbery against ships, wages and other entitlements under the seafarers’ employment agreement, relevant collective bargaining agreement or applicable national laws, including the remittance of any allotments as provided in paragraph 4 of this Standard, shall continue to be paid during the entire period of captivity and until the seafarer is released and duly repatriated in accordance with Standard A2.5.1 or, where the seafarer dies while in captivity, until the date of death as determined in accordance with applicable national laws or regulations.

The vessel’s P&I club will cover above expenses wide their financial securities, if incurred. Most of the CBAs have already incorporated above clause in the agreement.  Few CBAs which not incorporated this clause, the unions are presently under discussion to revise their CBAs.

Manning offices will re-issue SEAs for onboard seafarers with a confirmation statement that it complies with 2018 amendments to the MLC 2006. Presently there are no changes in MLC certification by any flag states (except Danish flag who are planning to reissue DMLC Part I).  During the next MLC audit on board your vessel, the auditor shall confirm the compliance for the MLC 2018 amendment.
