Monday, December 10th, 2018 we had an opportunity to visit one of Golar vessels, FSRU Nusantara Regas Satu, together with Director of EBU, Angga Luthfi Eldrianto, Yopik Indra Rosyidi, Swie Ayu, and also 2 office cadets. The FSRU started operations in May 2012. The terminal is operated by PT Nusantara Regas and the vessel herself located in Jakarta Bay, West Java.
Before we embarking the FSRU, we required to register ourselves by signing in the log book and verifying our ID cards with a Visitor Card, at the ISPS office of PT Nusantara Regas located at dock 16, Ancol. We, together with several on signers, went to the FSRU using a boat called Hutasuhut. On the vessel’shull there is the word of "OBVITNAS" (Objek Vital Nasional / National Vital Object) which means the ship is being protected by the Government because of its vital function to provide electricity in Jakarta.
Prior entering the accommodation of the vessel, we had to register ourselves again on the gangway, we were being escorted by one of the crew, heading to the bridge to do a Safety Briefing which was explained by one of crew onboard. Master onboard was welcoming us very well and allowing us to have a safety tour around the vessel and by using proper PPE (boiler suit, safety shoes, helmet, goggles, and gloves). We went around the vessel from fore to aft, escorted by 3rd Officer and Deck Cadet.
After safety tour around the vessel, we were having a meeting with all crew onboard to discuss about crewing materials and also to get feedback directly from crew, aiming for continual improvement. Discussion was being run very well and we were having a very fruitful meeting with all officer and rating onboard Nusantara.
The conclusion that we got from this visit, that crew onboard FSRU are having very professional safety, which prioritizing safety for crew member, vessel and also its environment. A very pleasant experience and visit we had. We were learning a lot from this visit and hope to do another vessel visit in near future.
