BIMTEK Crew Management

Equinox Bahari Utama Crew Management Services

On April 24th 2019, EQUINOX Bahari Utama was participating in  BIMTEK (Technical Guidance) Training Crew Management which had been organized by Consortium of Indonesian Manning Agency (CIMA), in cooperation with Ministry of Sea Transportation and Communication, or called as Sea Comm. It is actually the 2nd batch training, where the 1st one was being organized on March 28th where almost 100 Manning Agencies were attending. The training itself was focusing on the overview of the implementation of MLC 2006 in Indonesia, where it was being rectified in 2018 and the update of seafarer’s certification. The most interesting part was the session after lunch, where all the 100 participants were being divided into 2 group and each groups were having different topics to be discussed, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) group and SIUPPAK (Indonesian Crew Manning license) group. Both groups were having good enthusiasm since it was a good opportunity for all Manning Agents to have an open dialogue with the Regulator (Sea Comm). Positive discussion was being built since a lot of participants were having good eagerness to advance their knowledge in MLC 2006, in view of their role as Manning Agent who acting on behalf of Ship Owner in practical basis.

Besides the Regulator’s side who attending and be part as a speaker in this training, the representative from Seafarer Association (Union) was also attending to provide their thoughts about the Indonesian seafarer development or update. It was a value added training since all parties or stakeholder involved were being participated, start from the Regulator (Sea Comm), Seafarer Union or Association and also Manning Agents, as on behalf of Ship Owner. Positive credit for CIMA who was having the initiative to run this training, where by the end the goal of this training itself was to advance the knowledge about Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) of all the stakeholder specifically and for the good of the Indonesian seafarers generally.
